The Full Corset - Lingerie to be Fully Appreciated

The Full Corset Isn’t Old Fashioned Anymore

The full corset is no longer an old fashioned declaration of womanhood. Full style corsets have emerged as a high fashion statement. Even Oprah herself has embraced the new corset trend.

Corsets have existed as part of the woman’s dress code since women have worn anything more than a fig leaf. Corsets have taken all shapes, sizes and been made of all types of materials.

The corset’s primary intention was to change the shape of a woman’s body to reflect a tiny waist and fuller bust. In recent years, fuller corsets have come to the fashion forefront as a statement of modern womanhood—we now choose to wear shape altering corsets because we find them to be sexy. They make us feel sexy, not because fashion dictates that we must cinch our waists and crunch our bodies into unusual, unnatural shapes and sizes.

Corsets no longer have the same boundaries that they did just a few years ago. Ten years ago, corsets were limited to the very young crowd with perfect bodies and full busts. In the last few years, fuller corsets have been seen on women in the 50s and 60s in a variety of materials and styles. One look becoming very popular among the 40-something crowd is tapestry corsets worn with jeans. This style definitely dresses up jeans but still allows the wearer to achieve a casual look.

Corsets and corseted gowns look lovely on women of all ages. Corsets look especially lovely on women with fuller figures as a way to accent full busts and cinch thicker waists that tend to go along with fuller figures. Corseted gowns have recently shown up on red carpets worldwide. However, you won’t have to wait for years to find corseted gowns in your price range. Simply add a long black or color coordinating long skirt to your favorite corset for a red carpet look without the red carpet expense.
