Differences between a plus size bustier and corset

When shopping for a plus size bustier or corset, you might ask yourself what exactly the difference is between the two. That is a good question because the two are very similar and are often mistaken for the other.

The main difference between bustiers and corsets is that a bustier has cup definition, and corsets do not. The main reasons to choose between the two are comfort and style. A bustier can be a bit more comfortable since it lifts, separates and holds the bust. Corsets push up the bust creating more cleavage, but there is no separation or cup underneath.

If comfort isn't an issue because you don't plan on wearing a plus bustier for very long, then style should be the deciding factor. Whichever you think is sexier or more flattering is the way to go.

There are many features on both plus corsets and bustiers to consider. Some have lace up ties in the back. This allows some degree of sizing variation since you can make the laces slightly tighter or looser. A lace up bustier or corset may be easier to size than one that has hooks or snaps.

Both often have garters, and you need to consider whether you would like the garter straps to be removable or not. Often the straps are adjustable. This is an important feature since stocking sizes vary and you may need more or less length.

Plus sized corsets and bustiers come in many of the same styles and fabrics as smaller sizes. Plus can be harder to find, but you can find a selection of plus corsets at Henry & June Lingerie - Plus Bustiers and Corsets . The internet is a good resource for finding greater plus selections than retail stores. For plus bras visit our plus bra and panties section
